Meet Those We Serve

 

 

Bennie and Lennie

 

 

 

Bennie and Lennie are twin 40-something-year-olds who are two of the first residents of Gizmo House. They have been with the Ann Storck Center since 1984. Both have become entrepreneurs - invested in their own individual Micro-Enterprises through the Developmental Training Program and committed Staff members. 

In addition, Bennie participates in the Center's Fine Art Program and has become an award winning artist having won Best of Show at the critically acclaimed New York Epilepsy Society juried art show. Former hosts John McEnroe and Ivana Trump were duly impressed as they bartered for Bennie's painting. Lennie also keeps up with celebrities, having met Dan Marino and other well-known athletes.

 

   

Caroline

 

A broad grin spreads across Caroline's face whenever you ask her if she would like to use the computer. Caroline is a resident of Pembroke Pines Cluster and Participant of the Developmental Training Program. She has developed her abilities to communicate through PSC on her lap tray ASC has also become skilled at traveling in her wheelchair independently. 

In addition to being a computer whiz, Caroline has been a member of the Girl Scouts. She regularly takes local field trips with her staff advocate and  also goes into the community with other staff members.
